Hello friends !! I am super duper happy today !! Why ? I have a hundred reasons to be grateful and a million reasons to be happy for, but for now, two main reasons are popping up the most ~ for all the joy !!
Reason 1:- Today, Allah swt blessed me with 42 years of a blessed and beautiful life ~ He included the best husband and the most caring and awesome children in that life and as if that was not enough, He placed immense creativity in it !! We tend to take health for granted, until something goes wrong ~ but I thank Almighty Allah EVERYDAY for keeping the cancer at bay ~ If that’s not worth being happy about, then what is ??
Reason 2:- I was initially disappointed when my pizza box, { recycled to the shadow box }, did not get qualified for the shadow box competition (Read all about it here) but in my heart, I was very content if not excited with what I had designed. For me, creativity is something that has to be functional and appeasing. And I know, I felt I was really happy with how the pizza box turned out ~ infact, the whole episode inspired me to draw up more plans in different ways to work on several pizza boxes and I really went to town with all the stuff I came up with !!
Now that feeling is deep satisfaction with what you have drawn, designed and created ~ but happy ? Happy came becoz of the immense response I got from friends and fellow craftsmen who poured their love and appreciation in their comments on that post . It bought so much joy that people really liked how that shadow box turned out, but it amazed me “how many” creative friends thought that way.
I suppose, it just goes to show that CREATIVE people mostly THINK OUT OF THE BOX !!!
Thank you ~ thank you ~ thank you ~ so much to all the wonderful friends who visited me and left your kind words of encouragement. You’ll see the result of that encouragement in the next few posts !! Hopefully, you’ll like those too.
Today, I am sharing another one of my creations from the pizza box. I have seen a few projects on Pinterest, where toilet rolls have been used to make a lovely design around mirrors or clocks and that sparked an idea of incorporating the same technique into a shadow box made (pizza box)
Thrift, frugal, repurpose, DIY are words that really grab my interest. In this project, I merged two recycled items. The pizza box and the toilet rolls !!
It is really a very simple and straight forward project. I have tried to make this project more pictorial so I think, it is quite self explanatory.
With this box, I decided, not to tamper or alter the frame of the box. It remains a pretty bright red. I did not add paint to the inside base of the box either ~ instead I adhered some bright green embossed pattern paper (contrasting to the red frame) to it. So if you have oil marks on the base or side, don’t worry ~ it wont show up in the final look.
And finally, here it is, in broad day light ! I admit, I have been quite clumsy and slack ~ I haven’t cleared up the tiny strings of hot glue around the petals which is tarnishing the close up look 😦
Like I said, earlier, its only when, I got around to editing the pictures, did I realize I should have worked harder for a better finishing ! After all, camera lens tend to magnify all the goof ups, in the highest of proportions !!!
Its really a super easy project which you can get your kids involved in too. I hope you liked the tutorial and if you’ll like to keep updated with all my projects, kindly “subscribe” to my blog by pressing the blue icon on the top left side.
