DIY Farmhouse decor/ DIY faux cotton branch in faux terracotta vase

This DIY started, purely on trial and error basis.

I love terracotta texture and color, and wanted to turn my chickpeas can into a terracotta vase.

I also wanted to create faux cotton plant with an egg tray base and some cotton wool.

Items bought and used from Dollar Tree included – Wool, green moss and yellow flowers.

Items recycled included – chickpea can, egg tray, branches from my backyard and white foam packaging material.

This DIY can color, did not turn out how I envisioned but I actually love the shade and texture nevertheless. Sometimes, we should let go of what we thought we wanted and embrace what we actually created.

The dry brush technique was the icing on the cake. Totally in love with this project.

The Nescafe can and Folkart chalk paint are not a part of this project but a parallel project.

Thank you for stopping by and writing to me. I truly appreciate it.

I love reading the thoughtful comments you have been leaving here. It brings immense joy, in such grey uncertain times.

  1. This turned out really cute Naush! I watched your video as well and I’m glad I did. I have made chalk paint by adding plaster of Paris but not by adding baking soda. I will have to try this new idea 😁. I hope you had a good week and are staying safe. I read this morning that Ontario reported 700 new cases yesterday, so scary!

    • Tracy – I have been so unsure about the boys going to school and college. Its just so unnerving ! My husband is in the high risk category and just the thought of having a silent carrier in the house is worrying me. One of the schools shut down close by, coz apparently a student and a teacher tested positive. This pandemic has jolted us into changing our ways forever. I question myself, just how important is my son’s education, that I HAVE TO RISK his life ?? My youngest is 18 in highschool – i really wished they would turn this coming year into only online education. Loosing children or having them spread to elders CANNOT be acceptable. Three houses from my place, my neighbor had a large house party Saturday night !! These are educated people who are probably living in denial OR are just too selfish ! JT announced that the second wave is already hitting Ontario. Hope you and your family are safe.

      • We are staying safe so far yes. My hubby is also at risk so I also worry. He is also a front line worker – less celebrated than most – he’s a heavy duty mechanic so he works on the trucks that bring all our products everywhere. He is on call pretty much 24\7. We opted to keep our kids home from school. My youngest is in grade 9 and doing all her work online this year. My 17 year old just started university and thankfully she is also doing all her studies online this semester. I feel like I can tell when I walk into a store who will be rude and who will be polite just by if they are wearing a mask or not. The people who wear masks seem to be the ones who are more polite and care if they are in your space or not. You stay safe too! And your family of course.

        • Oh that’s good that the kids are home. I think I should also talk to my sons teacher to get him to study from home. Its just alot of unnecessary stress and tension.

  2. This is a cute idea and creative way to reuse. Thanks for sharing! I’m visiting today from the Lou Lou Girls link up. Have a great week!

    • Why thank you Rebecca ! That’s so kind of you. I just find ways to repurpose/upcycle/recycle household goods – and make them functional and look pretty πŸ™‚ – sometimes it works – sometimes it tanks. But I’m happy I tried – All the time. So glad your visiting us today. Hope you drop by again.

    • Thank you Sharon. My craftroom is my happy place. Just being here, is such a stress buster for me. Thank you for visiting us today Sharon.
