Gifts in Dubai.

Hello dear friends !

I’m an erratic blogger ūüôā¬† (But¬†you already know that, by now ūüėČ )¬† There have been times when, you could¬†read three¬†posts, back to back and then there are times, when you see me once in three months. In the blog-world, consistency is VERY IMPORTANT.¬†¬†I am yet to play by the book !

Over the past 11 years, I have been fortunate enough to have a beautiful relationship with any and all forms of art.

I did not restrict myself to water colors or decoupage ~ I am a restless eager soul, I have experienced and enjoyed every craft.

What started from card making has just made it way thru to DIY and home décor.

Sometimes I find myself going on a spin in a perplexed state¬†when ‘newbies’¬† ask me what I fancy most.

The past 5 months have been remarkably fantastic and have helped me, better define myself.

I cannot thank Almighty Allah swt enough for his grace.

November and December 2014~ were months dedicated to a dozen or more craft fairs. I love fairs and all the planning, preparation and exhaustion, that comes with it !

January 2015 ~ Gulf News published an article about me and my work !  I was beside myself.

January 2015 ~ We completed a 3-Day Art and Craft workshop.

February 2015 ~ Organic Café and Foods Supermarket, displayed my handmade greeting cards.

February 2015 ~ Aspen House Gifts, got the much needed boost it so anticipated, with several baby shower favors and wedding favors orders.

March 2015 РI was requested to be chief guest at the Arts and design Faculty of the American University of Dubai. It was an honor beyond words !

Over the years, I have been blessed to accomplish, all the creative adventures, I dive into, thanks to Allah swt and a lot of patience from my better half and boys. However, there are times, when I question myself, if I am, more of a mixed media artist, or a craft teacher or a carpenter, a card maker or a business woman or a DIY enthusiast. Perhaps, the past 5 months, have given me a glimpse of all who I am.

An amalgamation of all these endeavors.

Today, Let me share with you alittle about Aspen House Gifts.

Having a creative background gives me an edge in designing, understanding color statements, and packaging and having been in Dubai for 22 years, procuring my supplies is relatively easier for me.

Three of the key principles, I adopted from the hospitality industry, for over a decade are, professional attitude, punctuality and exemplary presentation.

Birthday Golfer Card !

Wow ! Its been such a ” creatively productive” ¬†weekend.

On Friday I visited the Arte Fair at the Times Square and it was such a joy seeing some familiar faces and lots of handmade crafts. I will be filling you’ll with all the exciting and gorgeous craft wares in another post.

And the other thing was that I managed to design 5 new cards.¬† I gathered exactly what I needed for various challenges and made a new attempt at leaving a few elements for each new sketch. So that the cards entered more challenges and got¬†better response from all my crafting ‘sistahs’ !

I cannot begin to tell you, how encouraging your kind comments are. I really look forward to switching on my laptop first thing after waking up to see who has what to say about one of my cards. It is such a joy and makes you want to design more creatively and experiment more.  Thank you again gals coz knowing you really mean what you say is all the support I need.

oK, back to the Golfer Card.

The first card for today is naturally as the title says it all, for the golfer man. I have deliberately used only two base colors ~ Black and green. Embossed the green cardstock, made a tag, a couple of buttons and a couple of brads. Although the sentiment is rubberstamped, the golf bag is a digital stamp which has only been slightly colored.

Cards for men is almost always an issue, colors as well as embellishments are so limited. Then again, there are fewer stamps to cater for men than women. I found a site which had a dozen good digital stamps ~ get this ~ FOR FREE !!!! Naturally I grabbed most of them. The golf bag is one of them. It is such a relief to have such ones, or else there are those with guys in cars or rollerskates or skiing or surfing. This one is a total savior !!!! I am using it for the first time. Hope you guys like it too.

Have used the corner punches after soooo long ! And exactly as per my compulsive habit, I used it for another two cards too !!! All in all, I feel this card could make one golf fan or player very happy for his birthday. What would you say ??

Here’s the card and following the images,¬†I have mentioned all the challenges it qualifies.

Home & Heart.

This here is the second card that was completed last night. Love the prints, colors and stripes. That owl has been embossed and sitting there for quite sometime now ūüôā¬† Finally he has found his place !

I feel it is simplistic but elegant card and I hope you like it.

This card is entering the following challenges : all or most of the sketch blogs have been kind enough to make it rather easy and non complicated this first week of the new year.

Love messages ~ cards

Love Message 4~ with all my heart.

One Card ~ 4 challenges !! wow. thats a first for me ūüôā

‘I love you with all my heart’ is¬†a free digi stamp. I know I should start owing up to the¬†digi making blogs owners that really help the likes of me, with all their goody freebies. So from¬†today, I¬†am going to try and find those lovely invisible friends who have so generously donated their digi stamps to us.¬† I’d really like for them to know how grateful I am for their gorgeous images and fantastic talent. Perhaps I will make a seperate post to name some of their sites once I have located them.

This card is entering 4 card challenges:

1)  http://ccmonthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/01/challenge-8.html

2) http://fridaymashup.blogspot.com/2010/12/mashup-25-sweet-on-hearts.html  ~~ valentine theme with hearts and red/pink/blue/yellow colors.

3) http://sketchandstashchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/01/sketch-n-stash-challenge-52.html ~~ newest/neglected elements/paper.

Playing with Polka dots is fun but can be challenging especially if its red, which in many cases, it is generally. I have used two cute glittery hearts which I have had for long but used it twice today!  a satin checkered ribbon which has been lying around my stash like forever , and an embossed green base for the sentiment oval. All in all, did not want to experiment much becoz I wished the focus to remain on the sentiment and beside which the polka dots are very dominating in the entire card. So Voila !

Challenges, Love messages ~ cards

Love Message 2~key to my heart.

In all honesty, when I started out with trying to figure out this challenging sketch, I thought, I may not be able to do justice to the sketch, but somehow, amazingly I am pleased with the end result. Why ?

This card is entering two challenges:

1:friday mashup : valentines, heart card, with colors : red or/and pink/peachish or/and or pastel yellow or/and blue.

2: stamping 411. The sketch.

So the sketch is from stamping 411 and the color, elements, theme are for Friday Mashup.

Shirley at Friday Mashup has a special liking for ‘Penguin’ so I have used the penguin digi image to rest my Heart on !

I hope you like this card to :

Baby Arrivals, Challenges

Precious Child

Its been quite some time since I made one of those baby cards that I enjoy making so much so much. Probably the most important period of a woman’s life. And nothing compares to what she feels when she holds those tiny feet in her hands for the very first time. But you all know that already any ways.

So I thought a bright pink and blue in various shades would do some justice to the very cute tiny baby embellishments I have.

The super cute sketch is from : skipping Stones at :
