I think, with this card, I decided to distance myself from my comfort zone of “PINK” and venture into very unknown territories namely loud dashing colors !! I have made a deliberate effort at using this loud pattern paper here becoz the sketch is one where one can really show off the pattern. Like I always say, clean and simple is what I enjoy the most. Ofcourse the experience was a real fun one.
Right from the time I was in school and when most of us gals used to exchange cards or tiny gifts, (sometimes even fancy erasers 🙂 I’ve really never believed in waiting for one particular day to express my love and affection for my husband, best friend, sister or neighbour etc. We can leave a small mark of love with so many gestures, each day of the year. Hence I do not make specific Valentines card but affection, intimate and love cards, with short and crisp messages. Afterall who has the time to read paragraphs and essays !! (including my own husband 😦 ) Two lines to say exactly what I am feeling and when I am feeling it.
The cupcake is stamped while the sentiment is digi stamp embellished with two brads and completed with a ribbon. Voila !!
Before you move on to viewing the card, I’d like to thank all of you’ll who visit me and leave so much love behind in form of your lovely heartfelt comments. Thank you so much for all the encouragement.
This card was inspired mainly from the sketches. It has many to all the elements I use in card making except the button ! Stripes and Polka dots. Large flower, 2 small fabric flowers and three gems flowers. Can you find wheres another hidden pink flower ? Hope its not too obvious 🙂 The heart is a darling pink fabric heart. A tag claiming the all-too-often heard “Love You” This suits the valentines theme becoz of the obvious reds & pinks, the heart and the sentiment ofcourse. However I feel, it can be gifted to anyone we have feelings for not necessarily only the girl/guy love thingy 🙂 Oh and both the stamps are digi stamps.
So anyways, I am back from my temporary hibernation. And what a lovely weekend so far ! So constructive and creative. Last night, I felt like a factory !! I churned out a good “FIVE” cards. Nearly four out of them are basically female themed. Lots of pinks, reds and blues … plenty of glitter and glamour too.
The first card in this glamour series is “Your a real sweetie” Ideal for girls or guys to pop this over to one of their friends !! I feel I have given this card a very flirty feel, with the image, sentiment and the loud dash of colors !
Again, this is my second attempt at the easel card. And I think, I am getting the hang of it. I tried a few variations like using the border punch and letting the two large flowers on either side of the sentiment act as a back up to the actual “stopper”.
One thing I learnt from this card is if you use thick embossed paper for any of the nesties, then you can actually get a embossed inner circle/oval shape in addition to the oval cut as well. Notice the gorgeous red oval embossed paper in close up, that texture is just awesome. Both pattern papers used in this card are handmade papers.
Lots of glamour, glitter and color here. Hope you like it.
Now that I am done with linking these super fantastic challenges. I guess I realize this list has really gone a whole lot looooong !! I think, I was lucky enough to make a card with a romantic feel to it and coincidently, alot of challenges are asking for valentines or love based cards !! Wooopie for me 🙂
Holly Molly !! Did I enjoy this card or what !!!! I completly felt ‘ myself ‘ with this card. Made it I would want it for me ! I wanted something colorful, something flowery, and something which showed the dozens of fabric hearts that sleep in my craft studio 🙂
This is a typically girlie girlie card. Lots of pink strips and polka dot pinks against a blue card base. Now that the desk is feeling alittle organized, I can easily fetch the punches, scallops, and corner punches so I have been using them in almost all the cards. This ribbon is one of my favorites. All the pink fabric hearts are different designs but the flower buttons are all similar. They rest on a square velet dark pink handmade paper which is square punched. The sentiment is a digital stamp which has a metallic key hanging underneath.
I just so love this card. It is ideal for framing as well as I will show in another post.
Hello Ladies, Hope you had a pleasent weekend. Me ? Yeah, it was pleasently creative. My mojo continues in full swing, gladly 🙂
Amazingly again, last night was fruitful enough to keep me churning out another 6 cards, that is, till the wee hours of the morning ! Yes, Feel like I am on top of the world. Its been that good. This weekend, I had this urge not only to create cards for the challenges but also to experiment with different designs and textures. You’ll see the results in the following posts.
This first card is really special to me. I think I would rate it a good 7/10 !! And that itself speaks volumes coz I really am, very critical about all my own projects. Nothing is really ever good enough for me, including my own handwritting. Thank God laptops and keyboards 🙂
Like I always say, the simplistic designs are always the most attractive ones. This card is ideal for both genders although It does sport a large flower. Amazingly this card carries 4 differnt handmade papers. I have tried to take close up pics of the flower to get you to see the textures. Remember, I told you about how I managed to open that new stack of handmade paper bought atleast a year or so before ?? Well, all this is spilling out from there.
The ivory paper is embossed with swirls, the Flower itself has two different, thick paper diecut with a button in the center, a tag with a friendly message and two butterflies. How simple can it get ?? This simple 🙂 The card, itself, is in very pale ivory, white, and green tones, except for a little dash of red.
This is a general card which you could present for valentines or an all-year-round-card for any friend/collegue/classmate/neighbour.
Somewhere last year, the owl’s were leading a riot. Everyone “WAS” crazy about them ! Me ? I still am crazy about them ! They are just so adorable. Perched up on a branch looking down sheepishly at the rest of us, having thoughts and opinions about the whole world ! No wonder so many disney productions portray them as the “Wisdom birds”.
There is another sketch challenge at krista-kris-challenges: with a similar sketch as my previous sketch from : Priscilla styles.
Since I loved this entire triangular division look, so much, I decided to make another one in similar design with different images and embellishments.
The pattern papers are new from my “guilt trip” shopping spree. The flowers are also from a new buy. The tiny green flower is diecut with a button over it. There are four glittering brads to go with it.
Imagine, what mom doesnt have her heart all melted up when she receives a card like this ??
This next card is something I made purely from experimentation. Have had this stamp for so long. The image is so versatile. You can use it for male oriented cards, for the elderly , for formal cards like in the office, sympathy cards. It is only limited by our own imagination.
This card is inspired by the challenge over at Little Red Wagon : to made a single layer card. Instead of using water paints or acrylics which I would generally, I opted for sponging pigments. I wanted to keep it as simple and clean so I have not overwhelmed the image or the background.
A very inspirational sentiment. ” Make your own happiness ” which again can be interpreted into several thoughts.
I came up with a couple :
Today is precious, Make your own happiness today.
Dont wait for anyone to make it happen, make your own happiness.
Find happiness everywhere in everything …
and ofcourse I’m sure there are many more….. If you do come up with any, please enlighten me too.
This card enters just a couple of challenges listed below :
