I love decor dressing birthday parties. However, decorating little girl parties is much more fun and easy than attempting boy parties. There are plenty of limitations in decorating for boys than with girls.
For instance,
Theme- boys – From Jurassic park to Toystory (naturally the super heroes of Avengers is an easy catch)
Theme- girls – From Cinderella to Pocahontas to Elsa and all the fairies and Princesses in between 🙂
Colors- boys – I love using greens, blues and reds generally. These colors fill a room without much effort.
Colors- girls – Almost every color in a rainbow and MORE !!
This birthday party decor request came on very short notice but since the mom, only had a few 10-year-olds joining the party – it was doable. The food was catered by another company and we personalized fancy diaries/journals as party favors.
The brief was “Elegant – pastels – pinks”
I made these giant paper flowers and dotted the ceiling with a few handmade tissue pompoms. Young Inshirah loved the giant flowers. She decided to decorate her bedroom wall with them with the doily bunting in between them, after the party was over.
Having had worked in the hospitality industry for numerous years, one key aspect I learnt in banqueting is the relevance of having a pretty skirting around the table to enhance the shabby chic serving platters and tableware even before setting eyes on the actual food.
Over the years I have never given up on the humble banner/bunting. It still remains a focal point and surely sets the stage, followed by color coordinated balloons or streamers or pompoms.
I would love to hear from you about how you set up birthday party rooms in your home.
I’m really glad that you stopped by. I hope you stay a while and leave inspired.

Oh WOW, the flowers look so real! Thanks so much for linking up with me at my #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 14, open until July 26. All party entries shared if social media buttons installed.
Thank you Dee.
Naush, this is such beautiful birthday party decor! How amazing are those giant paper flowers, too. You are very creative and talented! I have 2 boys and we never really decorated for birthday parties because my kids never really cared. I guess I got off easy! Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and joining my link party!

Thank you Shelbee. Actually, in 21 years – I have only just once held a full fledged birthday party for my four year old in 2005 – long before I started blogging ! It was a dinosaur themed party where the games, party decor, party favors and even the table ware was themed to suit the Dinosaur setting. Eversince, we opted for the easy way out – adventure park, movie and meal !! Its sad how once they turned into teenagers – they prefer to spend their birthdays with their friends 😦 But I suppose, we too were like that when we were teenagers.
This is so true. Adding a skirting to a table really brings it to life and is a great focal point. Nicely done.

I love the colors. I’m fairly creative in many areas but I’m afraid I fall short when it comes to party decorations. I too often settle for just the cake and a few other things but this is very inspiring.
Thank you Donna. I have rarely decorated my own house for a birthday party, however I freelance for decorating parties and party favors, hence was sharing. Perhaps you could visit http://www.aspenhousegifts.wordpress.com
