Meraki Link Party 8

Meraki Link Party - Where women create and share their creativity.

Good Morning Friends !

How was your weekend ?

The weather has already turned chilly here, in Kitchener. How is it at your end ?

One of the key subjects running on a few Mom groups on Facebook is about, if and how to go about Halloween. With the rising number of cases in Toronto, I suppose, It would be wise not to venture out trick or treating. I’d rather the children stay safe and alive than bored and unentertained. Would’nt you ?

Just in the last one month, we’ve had 6 people (known family friends and immediate relatives) who have not only tested positive – but DIED !!!! This THING is REAL !!! But this situation seems surreal.

I am an optimist. I like commencing things on a positive note so I am thankful for all the blessings being bestowed upon all of us who are living right now – We all are nothing short of mini miracles. Please don’t get over zealous and take the situation for granted.

We are at WAR WITH A VIRUS – And unfortunately so far we are not winning. How can one win against an invisible enemy ?

I think, initially in March/April, people were seriously sticking to the rules, however, gradually as the positive cases began declining, not only did we get fed up of hanging around at home – but we’ve almost become defiant.

Suddenly the positive cases are on the rise again. There are already talks of the second wave. Its really frightening. I know, everybody is getting restless and desperate to go back into our old lifestyle, but you know what – that old lifestyle is forever – OVER. We’re never going back to that.

I cannot envision eating a birthday cake again, blown by another person – EVER !! {While we’ve done it forever all our lives 🙂 }

We’re so accustomed to watching movies where an epidemic or a zombie apocalypses breaks out – but eventually, in the end of the movie – it is contained. In our case – I would be uncertain even if a vaccine is introduced. What are your views ?

Oh dear ! This introduction has turned into a full fledge essay !!

Lets get back to our party, shall we !

    • I remember thinking that this new pandemic will subside eventually in a few months like swine flu and H1N1, but 9 months later, and the figures are still high. My heart goes out to younger kids who are not very careful and infact uneasy about wearing masks and playing carefreely with other kids in school. Kids are kids, how much can one control their actions. I pray they stay safe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, Mireille.

  1. We are living in very uncertain times and we are taking social-distancing very seriously at our house. I don’t know what the future holds, but I tend to agree, the old way of life is gone. Stay healthy, my friend!

    • I’m glad Ann you guys are serious. Everybody has gotten relaxed lately. Just pray these new figures of covid+ reduce 😦 But the truth is, it won’t reduce, till we stick to following strict precautions

  2. I’m so sorry to hear you have lost so many from this nasty pandemic, that’s scary! Our numbers here out west are going up and up too. This will be the first Thanksgiving our family will not be gathering for dinner. While we feel safer doing so, it makes me sad and at times dang mad that this is the state of our world right now. On a lighter note, thanks for hosting the party. Stay safe, healthy, and well and Happy Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend!

  3. I’m so sorry for the terrible losses in your family! This is such a scary time. My heart breaks for everyone going through such tough times. Stay strong Naush! I know you are!

    • Denise, that’s very kind of you. I am an optimist. I always always always find a reason to be grateful to the Almighty. Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment Denise.

  4. For me, it has been nice to say no to all the outside things and just have fun here at home with my 12 and 15 year old daughters. We are going to the pumpkin patch on Friday with another family. I’ve done very little with friends, so I’m praying for our health and safety on this field trip.
